Release Notes for all 2025 Q4 Updates

All releases listed are deployed to all Symbee Connect Regions globally. Each release begins deployment in US Virginia (us-east-1) region first, and then progresses to all other regions globally over the course of approximately 48 hours.

The release dates below mark the date of the release deployment into the first region (us-east-1).

What's New

  1. All Symbee Connect Amazon Pinpoint SMS integration functionality is updated for the transition to AWS End User Messaging SMS

    • AWS is ending support for Amazon Pinpoint. For customers currently using Amazon Pinpoint, you will no longer be able to access the Amazon Pinpoint console after October 2026. Additionally new customers, or AWS customers that had not used Amazon Pinpoint previously, will not be able to use Amazon Pinpoint starting May 20, 2026.     • Symbee Connect will continue to support customers that already have Amazon Pinpoint SMS configurations configured in Symbee Connect until AWS support for Pinpoint ends.
    • All references to Amazon Pinpoint in the Symbee Connect Admin Portal are updated to AWS End User Messaging SMS.
    • The Amazon Pinpoint SMS Mapping maintain screen (now named AWS End User Messaging (EUM)) has been redesigned to support new functionality available in AWS EUM, but still supports legacy Amazon Pinpoint SMS mapping configurations as well.

    • A new AWS Configuration Mode selector is added to support three AWS SMS integration configuration variants:

      • Pinpoint Project (the original functionality)
      • End User Messaging SMS - SNS integrated
      • End User Messaging SMS - Connect integrated

    • Inbound SMS conversations are supported in all three of the above modes, and can be configured as either Symbee Delivered or Amazon Delivered (except the third mode above - Amazon Connect integrated - where Symbee Delivered is not applicable)

    • All Symbee Connect previous agent-initiated outbound SMS conversations (where the agent can either send an outbound SMS message to the customer, or begin an outbound SMS conversation with the customer) has been updated to support the above three configuration modes.
    • The Symbee Connect User/Agent UI behavior remains the same, but is updated to handle SMS conversations via any of the above three modes.
    • The Symbee Connect Amazon Pinpoint SMS CloudFormation (renamed in the Admin portal to AWS End User Messaging SMS CloudFormation) has updates in support of the new AES End User Messaging SMS integration). An in-place update of your existing deployed CloudFormation stack with the latest update (downloaded through the Admin portal) is required to use the new functionality and modes).
    • New SMS Utility Lamba is available for use in Amazon Connect Contact Flows
    • The AWS End User Messaging SMS CloudFormation now deploys an additional new utility Lambda that can be optionally used from Amazon Connect Contact Flows, to send a single configurable outbound SMS message out directly via AWS End User Messaging SMS to the customer without the use of the Send Message contact flow block (which starts a complete new SMS Contact with a required associated Contact Flow).
    • This Lambda is designed to be used when you have a use-case where you only need to send a single-shot SMS message to the customer from a flow, without requiring a full SMS two-way conversation and incurring the cost of the Amazon Connect Chat contact and associated message if you don't need it.

Feature Integration CloudFormation Updates available

  • AWS End User Messaging SMS CloudFormation (previously named Amazon Pinpoint SMS CloudFormation)

    • Updates in support of the transition to the AWS End User Messaging SMS API
    • Deploys a new SMS Utility Lambda and associated Lambda IAM Role (see notes above)

  • Amazon Connect Management and Real-time Statistics CloudFormation

    • IAM Policies are updated to allow access to the AWS End User Messaging SMS API's
